Service Description
In this three-day Damascus steel forging course, you'll delve deep into the demanding art of Damascus steel production. You'll experience how fire, hammer, and technique transform various steel types into a unique material with a characteristic pattern. The course is suitable for both interested beginners and advanced students – prior experience is desirable but not required. At the beginning, you'll receive a comprehensive theoretical introduction to steel types, layering, welding techniques, and Damascus patterns. Afterward, you'll put this knowledge directly into practice and forge your own Damascus steel. The course begins with a thorough theoretical session covering steel types, layering, welding techniques, and Damascus patterns. This is what you can expect from the Damascus steel forging course: - Introduction to materials science - Assembling and welding the Damascus steel layers - Forge welding, folding, and forging the Damascus steel billet - Forging the blade blank from Damascus steel - Hardening, grinding, and finishing the blade - Designing and constructing the handle from high-quality materials - Etching the blade to reveal the Damascus pattern The course lasts three intensive days and takes place in a personal atmosphere with individual instruction. Lunch and drinks are included on all course days. At the end of the course, you will hold a unique Damascus steel knife, crafted from steel you forged yourself – a true one-of-a-kind piece and a testament to traditional blacksmithing.
